Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Barcelona s Sergio Busquets has revealed that he would be open to a move to the MLS at some point in the future.
The midfielder will turn 31 this July and has so far been a one-club man, spending his entire career up to this point at Nou Camp. He made his first-team debut in 2008/09 and instantly became an instrumental part of the brilliant team designed by the current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. His trophy collection is truly remarkable: seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies and three Champions League winner s medals. He has also been capped 102 times for Spain, winning the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship with his national team.
“Obviously you can’t predict the future but I’m a fan of the USA and football is growing there, he said.
Busquets named the difference in the style and format of football in the MLS to the one he s used to as the most attractive prospect when it comes to a potential move to America at some point.
Barcelona have secured the services of Frenkie de Jong who will join them this summer from Ajax, and the 21-year-old Dutch midfielder is seen as a long-term replacement for Busquets.
