Who could replace Harry Kane at Euro 2020?

According to a report from , Tottenham and England captain Harry Kane could be in danger of missing Euro 2020. The striker is currently sidelined by a hamstring injury and is reportedly pencilled in for a return in April/May by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

However, the Portuguese boss also recently stated the 26-year-old may not return until next season. If Kane does miss out on England’s Euro 2020 squad, then here are a few strikers who could replace the 26-year-old:

Tammy Abraham

The young Chelsea striker has certainly made his mark this season for the Blues. Leading the Chelsea forward line, the 22-year-old has scored 13 goals and produced three assists in the top-flight this season. The youngster had also been prolific at Aston Villa on loan in the Championship. How…

Kompany ´very sceptical´ of those ´pointing fingers´ at Man City

Vincent Kompany is very sceptical over those pointing fingers at Manchester City after the Premier League charged the club with breaking its financial rules.

City were this week charged with 115 breaches of the Premier League s financial rules between 2009 and 2018 with a range of punitive actions possible if found guilty, including expulsion from the division.

Reigning English champions City stated they were surprised by the charges and Kompany, who won four Premier League titles during an 11-year stay with the Citizens during the period under scrutiny, questioned the motive of those criticising the club.

Kompany, now manager of Championship side Burnley, told reporters after the Clarets 2-1 FA Cup win over Ipswich Town: I look at [criticism of City] and sometim…

Veretout secures Ligue 1 switch from Marseille to Lyon

Jordan Veretout has sealed a permanent switch from Marseille to fellow Ligue 1 side Lyon.

Veretout, who played 94 times for Marseille across a two-year stint, has signed a two-year contract for a reported €4million (£3.3m) fee.

The deal for the 31-year-old could rise to around €7million (£5.9m), with a 25% sell-on clause for any future transfers.

Veretout made 46 appearances for Marseille in all competitions last term, registering 10 goal involvements (five goals and five assists), five of which came in the Europa League.

His 1018 successful passes was a total only bettered by Chancel Mbemba (1202) and Leonardo Balerdi (1399) in Ligue 1 last season, while he also won 22 of his 38 tackles.

The France midfielder has also made six appearances …

Nashville SC v San Jose Earthquakes: ‘A win would change everything’ – Godoy

Anibal Godoy insists that Nashville are already looking at their game against San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday as a must-win.

Nashville have won just once in the MLS this season and sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference after a run of four without a win.

The Earthquakes, meanwhile, are bottom of the Western Conference having lost eight of their matches and recording just one win.

Godoy is aware of how their poor start to the season could affect their playoff hopes later down the line but is confident that Nashville can turn things around.

He said: “For us, it s an important week. It s a day we have to win, or we ll start to feel the pressure from other teams as they start to separate in the table.

“This league is long but if we want to g…

Tuchel extends PSG contract to 2021

Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has extended his contract until June 2021 despite an underwhelming end to his first season with the Ligue 1 champions.

Tuchel arrived at Parc des Princes last year and guided PSG to a comfortable league title defence, but results were less impressive in the cup competitions.

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester United in the last 16, while Guingamp inflicted an early Coupe de la Ligue exit and they were then beaten in the Coupe de France final by Rennes on penalties.

The shoot-out defeat to Rennes came in a run of just three wins in 10 matches in all competitions at the end of the season, concluding with Friday s 3-1 league defeat at Reims.

However, Tuchel insisted after the match that he was c…

Italy 2-2 Belgium: Trossard completes comeback to deny 10-man hosts

Italy dropped their first points of this Nations League campaign, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Belgium in Rome.

The 10-man Azzurri, who had Lorenzo Pellegrini sent off, were pegged back from 2-0 up at Stadio Olimpico, where Maxim De Cuyper and Leandro Trossard cancelled out earlier efforts from Andrea Cambiaso and Mateo Retegui.

Just 59 seconds had elapsed when Italy broke the deadlock as Federico Dimarco played a one-two with Pellegrini, before his low cross was turned in at the far post by Cambiaso.

It was 2-0 in the 24th minute when Koen Casteeles parried Cambiaso s low drive straight to Retegui, who tapped into an open goal.

However, the Azzurri s momentum was halted after 40 minutes when Pellegrini was shown a straight red card following a VAR …

Scholes comes clean over Euro 2012

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes said he was never asked to play for England at Euro 2012.

The 37-year-old retired from international football after Euro 2004 to focus on his club career, and then hung up his boots entirely at the end of the 2010-11 season before making a comeback in January.

Scholes has suggested before that he regretted turning down the chance to play at the 2010 World Cup and has now hinted that he may have considered accepting a call-up if asked by Roy Hodgson ahead of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

I wasn t offered the chance, Scholes told reporters on United s pre-season tour when questioned about his potential involvement.

It has been reported that Hodgson expected Scholes to want to focus on his club career and d…
